ECG2024: “Mastication behaviours in older people

Prof dr Kazuhiro Hori is full professor at Niigata University, Prosthodontics specialist. He has been dedicated in dysphagia rehabilitation, maxillofacial prosthodontics, and Gerodontology. As a prominent member and instructor in the most influential associations in Japan such as Japanese Society of Gerodontology, Japan Prosthodontic Society and Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, he made a great impact in the knowledge dissemination in Gerodontology.

JUGOSLAV ILIĆ
ECG2024: “Chalenges of Restorative and Endodontic Treatment in Elderly Patients

Prof dr Jugoslav Ilić is full professor at School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade, head of the Department for Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. He is dedicated to clinical work, mentorship, scientific work and development of innovative higher education curriculum. As a member of distinguished professional European and Serbian associations, he continuously contributes to finding solutions for more efficient care of the older adults in the field of endodontics and restorative dentistry.

BARBARA JANSSENS
ECG2024: “Health services research in an ageing society

Prof dr Barbara Janssens is Assistant professor at the Ghent University in Belgium. Her research interests are the promotion of oral health in institutionalised care, improving oral health of home-dwelling elderly through better interprofessional collaboration and the relationship between oral and general health. She is the winner of the Colgate research award of the European College of Gerodontology, 2015. She is the past co-president of the European Association of Dental Public health (EADPH), councilor of the ECG, Co-chair of the special interest group on Gerodontology at EADPH, member of the research consortium GRAY at UGhent and board member of BENECOMO, the Belgian-Dutch research consortium on oral care for older adults.

YURIKO KOMAGAMINE
ECG2024: “Interventions for Oral Hypofunction: Occlusal Force and Oral Dryness

Yuriko Komagamine is associate professor at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University. She is dedicated to full prosthodontics rehabilitation in older adults, with her scientific focus in the field of evaluation for masticatory function and the effect of mastication on food intake, diseases and quality of life of older adults.

ANASTASIA KOSSIONI
ECG2024: “Health care professionals’ education in geriatrics and gerodontology. The activities of the PROGRAMMING COST 21120 Action

Prof dr Anastasia Kossioni is full professor of Gerodontology at the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. She is currently Chair of the Section of Prosthodontics in NKUA, Secretary and Chair of the Education Committee at the European College of Gerodontology, Co-Chair of the SIG Gerodontology at the European Geriatric Medicine Society and Gerodontology Coordinator at the COST action CA21122 -PROGRAMMING. Her commitment to the promotion of Gerodontology in the dental and other healthcare professionals community, her mentoring, scientific activity and improvement of existing Gerodontology curricula are recognised in Europe and beyond and make her one of the most influential people in this field.

VOJKAN LAZIĆ
ECG2024: “Prosthodontic rehabilitation in tumor patients

Prof dr Vojkan Lazić is full professor and the vice dean at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade. He is prosthodontics specialist dedicated as clinician, mentor and scientist, with his most prominent work in the field of maxillofacial prosthodontics. As distinguished member of national and international associations such as Balkan Stomatological Society, International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, International Team for Implantology and International College of Prosthodontist, he made a great impact on the improvement of rehabilitation and quality of life of older adults with maxillofacial defects.

IRENA MLADENOVIĆ
ECG2024: “Temporomandibular disorders in the elderly: clinical appearance, risk factors and treatment need

Dr. Irena Mladenovic, doctor of medical sciences, specialist in prosthetic dentistry, is Associate professor at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, University of East Sarajevo. Her research work is focused on temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain, and their connection with structural, psychosocial and genetic components. She was a participant or leading researcher in various national and international projects. Dr. Mladenovic published and presented the results of her research regionally and internationally, participated in editorial board of the Faculty publications, and is a reviewer in the field of TMD for several international journals. She currently holds the position of the Vice Dean for teaching.

FRAUKE MÜLLER
ECG2024: “Dilemmas in Oral Healthcare for Demented Patients

Frauke MÜLLER is professor and chair for Gerodontology and removable prosthodontics at the University Clinics of Dental Medicine at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Frauke Müller has been President of various learned Societies. She co-edited the ITI Treatment Guide no 9 on “Implant therapy in the Geriatric Patient” and the textbook “Oral Healthcare and The Frail Elder”. She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation and Gerodontology. Frauke Müller is honorary member of the European College of Gerodontology, the BSSPD and the International Team of Implantology (ITI). Frauke Müller was awarded twice the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award, in 2013 in Geriatric Oral Research and in 2023 in Research in Prosthodontics and Implants. In 2019 she was received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Thessaloniki. Her research activity is mainly related to gerodontology, oral function as well as complete and implant prosthodontics.

MIRKO PETROVIĆ
ECG2024: “Adverse effects of multimorbidity and polypharmacy on oral health in older adults

Prof. dr. Mirko Petrović is a full professor of geriatrics at Ghent University, Belgium. Actively involved in various professional pursuits, including mentorship, on-the-job training, certification, and accreditation programs, as well as professional development courses, he currently serves as the president of the European Geriatric Medicine Society, holding a prominent position in the most influential association dedicated to Geriatrics and Gerontology in Europe. Prof. Petrović draws upon his expertise in exploring the relationship between general and oral health as part of his scientific output. He will be addressing the topic “Adverse Effects of Multimorbidity and Polypharmacy on Oral Health in Older Adults.”

ECG2024: “Polyoxy-methylene as contemporary material for telescopic denture in older patients

Dr Aleksandra Popovac is Assistant professor at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade. She is prosthodontics specialist, dedicated in lecturing, clinical and scientific work in the field of Gerodontology, Removable prosthodontics and education in dental care. Her main goal is to promote Gerodontology within dental and medical society and to strengthen the network of dedicated dental professionals and to improve the oral care of the older adults.

ECG2024: “Adverse effects of drugs – frequently seen oral manifestations in elderly people

Prof dr Ana Pucar is full professor at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade. She is dedicated to lecturing, clinical and scientific work in the field of Oral medicine. Her prominent work as the author of several important textbooks, but also her mentoring accomplishments in the clinical and scientific field, enabled progress in the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases in the elderly.
